Download the latest system software and gear up for the launch of audio and video messaging on PSP.
PSP system software version 3.90 contains two hidden gems that will soon change the way you use PSP. This free software upgrade, available from eu.playstation.com, contains all the technical nuts and bolts for both audio and video messaging on your PSP.
Go!Messenger lets you use your PSP, both the original (PSP 1000) and Slim & Lite (PSP 2000) models, to keep in touch with friends for free wherever you have access to a Wireless network, whether at home via a Wireless broadband connection or on the move via public hotspots.
This upgrade will provide the basis for using Go!Messenger, including instant messaging that uses a new and intuitive virtual keyboard, when this free service is launched in February, 2008. With the addition of a headset, which will be available in the coming weeks, voice chat and voice messaging are also possible, while users with the PSP system's Camera peripheral are able to make full use of video calling.
For users of PSP Slim & Lite (PSP 2000) the latest system software update also adds new Skype functionality for your PSP. This enables you to make free calls to anyone else using the service on a PSP Slim & Lite or compatible device such as a PC, Pocket PC or Mac, anywhere in the world, when you're in range of a Wireless hotspot. You will also be able to call landlines and mobile phones at very competitive rates.
With Skype software on your PSP Slim & Lite you can also manage your account, adding, deleting and editing your contacts, or, using the numeric keypad, ring any landline or mobile phone number. All you need to start using Skype, apart from system software version 3.90 or above, is the new Headset with Remote Control (for PSP 2000 series), which will be available early February.
